0. Time how long Atlantica/Midgar takes to load.
1. Make a backup of your base/japlus folder
2. Move everything from your Base, excluding folders and asset pk3's and place them in your JAplus folder.
3. Find the file 'Start JAMP with Japlus' or something similiar, make a shortcut of it on the desktop.
4. Get Ultra Utility, to open JAplus automaticly anyway (if number 3 is hard to follow)
5. Run the game, make a server with Atlantica or Midgar, both large maps and use a stop watch or something to time how long it takes to load.
That's about it, I'm sick of people saying 'I can't connect' or 'it takes too long to load'
Using this method, which isn't hard at all, you'll be loading in less than 5 minutes.
Q:How does this work?
A:The base folder is read thoroughly, anything useless in there will also be read, which is not needed to be. Basically, when you open up JAplus, (this must be done through EXE or UU, or by using the 'load mods screen.') it will find a certain file which locates the instructions of the file it needs to read. So, you select a map to load, it first checks the contents of the base folder, then begins to load the actual file (knowing its instructions found in the .arena or .bsp file.) Same goes for skins, you may notice it may lag a little when scrolling the bar to view skins, or selecting a custom. It scans for texture files in the Asset files too.
